How to Copy and Use Fancy Instagram Fonts

You've probably seen bold or rounded, unusual fonts in Instagram profiles. Instagram doesn't actually have a separate font feature — these are "font-like special characters" made with Unicode. Once you know how it works, anyone can use them.

How Instagram fonts work

Inside Unicode there are other versions of the same 'a' that differ only in shape. They were created for things like math notation and enclosed letters, but their distinctive shapes look like fonts. Because they're characters, not images, you can copy and paste them anywhere, and they look the same on Instagram, WhatsApp, and Discord.

Convert and copy

Type your text into the Instagram font generator and it converts it into several styles — bold, script, rounded, and more — at once. Copy the style you like and paste it into the name or bio field of your Instagram profile editor. Korean has limited convertible styles, so it works best with English names or phrases.

Tips to avoid breaking

Depending on the device or app, some styles may show as boxes (□). That happens when the device doesn't have the glyph for that character. Choosing widely-supported styles like bold or italic rather than very unusual ones means most people will see it correctly. Checking on another device before posting is the safe move.

It looks even better with special characters

Font conversion alone is enough, but adding one or two special characters or text emoticons makes a profile come alive — for example, small stars or hearts on either side of your converted name. Just don't overdo it; a light accent looks best.
