You've probably seen text that looks like it's melting or possessed — letters covered in stacked marks. That's glitch text, also called Zalgo or "cursed text." Here's what it is and how to make it.
What is Zalgo / glitch text?
It's normal text with lots of combining marks stacked on top of, through, and below each letter. Unicode lets you attach unlimited marks to a character, so the letters appear to bleed into each other — a glitchy, creepy look.
How to make it
Use the Glitch Text Generator: type your text, choose how intense you want it, and copy the result. More intensity = more marks = more "cursed."
A few tips
- Some apps strip or limit combining marks, so very intense glitch can get cut off. Use a lower intensity if it breaks.
- It works on Discord, Reddit, and X. Great for spooky usernames, dramatic reactions, or Halloween posts.
- For other effects, try Upside Down Text or Small Text.
